The Tyne & Wear Metro was introduced in stages from 1980 and now comprises two lines and 60 stations. Both lines (Green and Yellow) serve the branch ; Yellow running to South Shields and Green to Sunderland. They both converge at Pelaw ( not in Sunderland & Sth Tyneside), which can be used as an interchange between the two lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are 19 stations in the branch and the following pages show which of those serve local real ale pubs and clubs. The criteria used is a maximum of 15 minutes walk from station and indicated in italics. These are just suggested stations and it may be if visiting more than one, in particular Sunderland, another station is preferred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The original metrocars are being replaced by 46 new trains from December 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
